Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

The Hampton Roads Chapter of PRSA affirms the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion statement of the national Public Relations Society of America as found in its DEI Toolkit here: https://www.prsa.org/about/diversity-inclusion.

Our chapter expands upon this statement to include Belonging, recognizing that cultivating a sense of belonging is crucial to advancing our chapter’s mission. We want all our members to feel accepted and included.

The Hampton Roads chapter also recognizes how local demographics and representation gaps in our industry present us with an opportunity to use our DEIB efforts to support groups that are unique to our region as well as groups that are underrepresented in our chapter.

As our understanding of diversity deepens and evolves, we commit to learning and working together in ways that remain inclusive and supportive of all our members.

Our chapter will use DEIB as a filter through which we view all our decisions, and we encourage members to do the same within their careers, in hope that our actions strengthen the Hampton Roads community.
